The high demand for design jobs has seen more and more students looking to expand their portfolios; entering design competitions held by large companies and organisations gives students a chance to put their skills to use and gain essential experience and exposure. The Careers Group’s recent competition to design the cover of the annual graduate recruitment publication, the Finalist Directory received an enormous number of entries in just over two weeks. The winning design was produced by Moira Gil and Sonsoles Alvarez from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.

The winners said, “By taking part in this useful initiative we could develop our skills about educational and social design. We wanted to help people to choose their next adventure, their next challenge, encouraging through our design the value of study.” The publication is an ideal addition to their portfolio, ensuring exposure to a range of employers and approximately 12,000 finalists.

Michael Clarke, Assistant Director of The Careers Group, University of London was especially impressed by the design, which is based upon the ideas of knowledge, aspiration and motivation . “We were surprised and delighted by the quality and variety of competition entries. Moira and Sonsoles’ design was challenging, innovative and highly relevant to the Finalist Directory, and we congratulate them on their achievement.”
