Launched on 8th March 2007, International JobOnline is the newest addition to the wide range of careers services offered by The Careers Group - University of London.

Currently International Students make up over 13% of the UK student population and the proportion is set to rise dramatically in the next fifteen years and is being positively encouraged by the British Government in the ‘Prime Ministers Initiative’. In June 1999 Tony Blair launched the strategy by saying:

‘We want to have 25 percent of the global market share of Higher Education students and we want to increase the number of international students studying in Further Education institutions by 100 percent. Our aim is to reach targets by 2005′ (DfES, 1999)

With employment issues critical to most international students; be it paid work whilst studying, work placements or post graduation employment - The Careers Group have recognised the full potential of designing a specific service that would allow this dynamic and highly qualified pool of students, to explore career opportunities worldwide with internationally established employers.

What differentiates International JobOnline is it is designed to act as a one-stop shop service with a single aim to address the needs an International Student might face whilst studying in the UK and post graduation. In addition to carrying global vacancies, the site has valuable Careers Information pages which explain the students’ eligibility to work in the UK, clarify immigration schemes and provide employment information about specific countries.

Furthermore graduate employers can use International JobOnline to advertise vacancies, internships and even voluntary work opportunities exclusively to International students currently pursuing a UK undergraduate and postgraduate qualification. One distinguishing aspect of International JobOnline, and one of the reasons for its popularity, is that the service is ‘free’ for employers wishing to advertise their positions to the International Students community in the UK.
